Minnesota Section Awards Banquet

This section meeting is our annual awards Banquet. We will feature our Section and Committee activities for the year, honor students from the University of Minnesota and Minnesota State-Mankato ASCE student chapters for academic achievement and service to ASCE, recognize ASCE-MN section members who have won awards, and present new ASCE life-members with Certificates of this achievement. The Order of the Engineer ceremony will also be held.

ASCE National President-Elect will be the evening’s featured speaker. He will

discuss the Vision 2025 for the Society and how the vision shapes our current efforts. He will also touch on our obligation for sustainability, advocacy, ethics, and how we must remain innovators to address the challenges of the future.

President-Elect Herrmann is a principal of Hardesty & Hanover, LLP, of New York City. He earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Valparaiso University in 1973 and a master’s degree, also in civil engineering, from the Polytechnic Institute of New York (now the Polytechnic Institute of New York University) in 1980. He was a member of the Executive Committee from 2007 to 2008 and again from 2009 to 2010, and he served as Society treasurer in 2010. He has also held numerous positions at the regional and section levels, and he served as chair of the advisory council for ASCE’s 2009 Report Card for America’s Infrastructure.

Coming Up…

May 21 Section Meeting Social will be sponsored by the Younger Member Group.  The social event will be at at Brit’s Pub in Minneapolis at 4:00 PM.  It will feature Lawn Bowling for the entire family.
